POWs of The Revolution

It is estimated that 13,000 perished in the hands of their British captors, more than died in all the land and sea battles of the campaign combined. The victims of wartime bureaucracy and military expedience, not just by the British but by General Washington himself, it was the prisoners’ fate to become the most unfortunate political pawns of the Revolutionary War.
